Biofilm
Biofilm...the invisible layer that is all around us, on surfaces in our homes and on our bodies. Biofilm is produced by bacteria. It is sticky substance that dries onto surfaces in bathrooms, kitchens, counters, floors, even on our skin and teeth - it's pretty much everywhere! It provides a habitat for pathogens that is very difficult to remove. Even harsh chemical cleaners and soaps don't remove biofilm, unless it is vigorously scrubbed. And yet, we think a surface is clean once we wipe it down with a traditional cleaning product. Meanwhile, we have left behind a habitat that provides a perfectly safe place for disease-causing bacteria to grow and reproduce. Studies have shown that 90% of harmful bacteria live in biofilm.
So How Do We Get Rid of Biofilm?
Probiotic cleaners, sometimes called microbial-based cleaners, combine probiotics and detergents. They are enriched with good bacteria that feed on biofilm, thus removing the habitat for pathogenic, or bad, bacteria. Meanwhile, the detergents work on dissolving dirt, grease and grime particles. The probiotics work as a tiny, microbial army that cleans your home and attacks the invisible biofilm. Probiotic cleaners also effectively reduce odours that are caused by the presence of biofilm. Once on the surface, probiotics cleaners also help to prevent further recontamination by pathogens that come into contact with the surface. Traditional cleaners leave surfaces susceptible to recontamination just minutes after they dry. With probiotic cleaners, the good bacteria continue to feed on biofilm for days after they are applied.
At Cleenr, we know that not all bacteria are bad....our cleaning products are enriched with good bacteria to help you keep your home clean on a microscopic level. They are a healthy cleaning alternative to chemical disinfectants. Our mission is to change the way the world thinks about clean!
